St. Xavier's College, Thumba, is committed to full compliance with the mandates, regulations, and guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Our institution ensures a safe, equitable, and transparent academic environment by adhering to statutory requirements concerning student welfare, academic standards, and digital governance.
In accordance with the UGC Regulation on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, St. Xavier's College maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward ragging in any form.
Ragging is a criminal offense.
Students found guilty of ragging face strict disciplinary actions, including suspension, withholding of results/scholarships, debarring from representation, or immediate expulsion with a permanent entry in their Transfer Certificate (TC).
The college has established an Anti-Ragging Committee and an Anti-Ragging Squad to monitor campus activities and handle grievances.
The college strictly follows UGC-mandated frameworks for the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) and digital credit management:
Through the DIGILOCKER facility provided by the UGC, the university and college manage the digital storage, transfer, and accumulation of academic credits.
Every student is required to maintain an Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID as per Ministry of Education and UGC directives.
Credits earned by students remain valid for up to seven years, as specified in UGC regulations.
We uphold the UGC's commitment to social justice and accessibility for marginalized sections of society:
For the "Honours with Research" degree, we provide a 0.5 CGPA relaxation (from 7.5 to 7.0) for students belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer), Differently Abled, and EWS categories, in strict adherence to UGC norms.
The college facilitates the Single Girl-child Scholarship for PG students, a direct initiative offered by the UGC.
The institutional library is managed by a designated UGC Librarian to ensure academic resources meet national standards.
To ensure ongoing compliance with UGC and University regulations, the following bodies are active for the 2025-2026 academic year:
Presided over by Dr. Manju L, ensuring a safe environment and addressing grievances related to harassment.
Convened by Sri Muthappan M to handle general student concerns in a fair and transparent manner.
