The Sree Narayana Guru Open University (SGOU) Learner Support Centre (LSC) at St. Xavier's College, Thumba functions as a facilitation and learner-support centre for students pursuing higher education through the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system of SGOU.
The Centre serves as an important link between the University and its learners, providing academic and administrative assistance and helping students navigate their academic journey with confidence. The LSC assists learners with matters relating to registration, study materials, assignments, examinations, academic information and other University-related requirements.
About Sree Narayana Guru Open University
Sree Narayana Guru Open University (SGOU), Kollam, is a State University established by the Government of Kerala in September 2020 with the vision of expanding access to higher education and promoting inclusive learning opportunities. The University was formally dedicated to the people of Kerala on 2 October 2020, and the Kerala Legislature enacted the Sree Narayana Guru Open University Act, 2021 (Act 1 of 2021).
Named after Sree Narayana Guru, one of Kerala's foremost social reformers, philosophers and spiritual leaders, the University seeks to promote the ideals of knowledge, equality, social justice and human dignity through accessible higher education.
SGOU offers Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes through the Open and Distance Learning system, providing opportunities for learners who may not be able to pursue conventional full-time higher education.

Open and Distance Learning has emerged as an important avenue for widening access to higher education. It enables learners to pursue academic programmes while balancing employment, family responsibilities and other commitments.
