Profile Summary
Dr D. Legio Meril brings ten years of teaching and research experience in Macroeconomics and Development Economics, underpinned by an interdisciplinary academic foundation spanning engineering, economics and advanced research training (B.Tech, M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D.). His scholarship, reflected in a substantial body of work published in UGC-approved national and international journals, engages closely with questions of public expenditure, financial inclusion, banking reform and treasury management, with particular attention to their implications for Kerala and the wider Indian economy. This research orientation is complemented by active participation in national seminars and conferences, and by his leadership of an ICSSR-sponsored project examining the feasibility of e-auction models in the fish marketing system — work that speaks directly to his interest in the blue economy and applied development policy.
Beyond the classroom, Dr Meril has demonstrated sustained administrative capability, having led the Department of Economics while simultaneously discharging a wide range of institutional responsibilities, including NAAC Criteria-III leadership, coordination of the college’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, and convenership of the Career Development and Placement Cell, Staff Grievance Cell and Canteen Committee. This combination of disciplinary depth, research productivity and administrative reliability positions him as a well-rounded academic contributor, equally at ease with scholarly enquiry and institutional stewardship.
