Inclusive education aligned with UGC guidelines and institutional values

Overview

Institutional transparency and statutory compliance in accordance with UGC mandates.

St. Xavier's College, Thumba, is committed to providing an inclusive educational environment in alignment with UGC guidelines and the college's mission to maintain a "preferential option for the marginalized". Our vision is to foster a knowledge society rooted in compassion, equity, and justice, ensuring that academic excellence is accessible to all individuals regardless of their physical or social background.

In accordance with UGC norms, the college provides specific academic relaxations to ensure equitable opportunities for marginalized groups. For students seeking the Four-Year UG Degree (Honours with Research), a relaxation of 0.5 in CGPA (reducing the requirement from 7.5 to 7.0) is granted to those belonging to Differently Abled, SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), and EWS categories. Furthermore, the college strictly adheres to the government's reservation policy during the admission process to ensure fair representation and access.

The college maintains a robust support structure to assist students with diverse needs through specialized scholarships — including the Blind/PH Scholarship (Kerala State Higher Education) and other Post-Matric and Central Sector Scholarships — dedicated committees such as the SC/ST/OBC/Minority Committee and the Students' Grievance Redressal Committee (SGRC), and a Counselling Centre offering personal and emotional support in a supportive atmosphere.
