Building Trust Through Transparency

Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Group

Inclusion, welfare, and equal opportunity for marginalized communities

Overview

Institutional transparency and statutory compliance in accordance with UGC mandates.

Guided by our mission to build a just society, St. Xavier's College prioritizes a "preferential option for the marginalized," particularly the fisher communities and other disadvantaged groups in our region. We have established a dedicated SC/ST/OBC/Minority Committee to oversee the welfare and academic progress of students from socio-economically disadvantaged groups (SEDG). Our goal is to bridge the gap in educational opportunities by providing a supportive ecosystem that caters to the unique needs of these groups.

To ensure financial inclusivity, the college facilitates a wide range of government and management scholarships, including Post-Matric, Higher Education, and State Merit scholarships. Furthermore, specific relaxations in eligibility criteria for advanced academic pathways, such as the Honours with Research programme, are provided to students belonging to SC/ST/OBC and other reserved categories as per UGC norms. Through these initiatives, we strive to empower every student to achieve excellence regardless of their socio-economic background.
